Nintendo opens the Apple keynote with a surprise : Mario arrives on iPhone and iOS !

Surprise guest of the Apple keynote, Nintendo announced Super Mario Run, its first mobile game, designed exclusively for iOS initially. The game should be available before Christmas.

The opening of the Apple keynote early September made us a great surprise: the arrival of the first Nintendo game on a mobile platform. And not just any license as is the historic character of Nintendo: Mario the plumber who will be the hero of Super Mario Run. The news was not announced by anyone: nothing less than Shigeru Miyamoto, the father of Mario and Zelda especially from Japan to announce the news.

Jump and Run

The diehard fans of the Nintendo license may be a little disappointed since it is not a classic Mario but a "simple" jump and run timed how Rayman Jungle Run. In this type of game, it does not direct the direction taken by the character, it will automatically advance and simply jump at the right time.

In addition to a normal mode where you have to finish the level before a given time, Super Mario Run includes a battle mode where you try to go as fast as the "ghost" of the opponent, a character in ghostly form who has already completed the level and determines a time to beat.

Unlike the current trend, Super Mario Run will not be riddled with paid options: from the mouth of Miyamoto-San himself, you buy the game once and you will play as much as you want without having to pay again. Good news that matches the DNA of Nintendo.

The price of Super Mario Run was not disclosed but should be available before the Christmas holidays. Now we wait to see if Apple manage to maintain the exclusive Nintendo productions, but the closed and secured alongside iOS tipped the balance of his side.
