Watch Series 2: Apple launches a tight watch connected with GPS integrated

The Californian firm makes the good share with the sportsmen, who will benefit from now on from a lot of new features, that it is for swimming, the race or the excursion. 




At the time of its keynote of September 7th, Apple presented a new model of its connected watch. Baptized “Apple Watch Series 2”, the device is of form similar to the first generation, but has a series of improvements intended above all for the sportsmen. Thus, the watch is from now on tight until a 50 meters depth. One can thus use it to make lengths in a swimming pool or to practise surfing. Better: Apple Watch Series 2 was programmed in such manner to be able to count the calories spent at the time of an activity of swimming. With time, this calculation will become more and more in precis, according to the use of each user, underlines Apple.

Another innovation: Apple Watch incorporates from now on a GPS, which proves particularly useful for the race or the excursion. More need, indeed, to carry its iPhone: the watch will be able from now on to calculate in an autonomous way the heating expenditure and the traversed way. At the end of the activity, it will then be enough to transfer the data towards iPhone to be able all to save in the principal application. It is the case, for example, of Viewranger, an application of excursion. GPS will also benefit the fans from… Pokemon Go, whose version adapted for Watch Series 2 will be available by the end of the year.

Apple benefits from this occasion to launch a special edition baptized “Apple Watch Nike +”. It is equipped with a specific design with, in particular, an extensible two-tone bracelet. This model gives a direct access to the application of race of Nike. A simple order with Siri is enough to start it. In addition, to motivate the user, will this model regularly display inciting notifications with the colors of Nike (“And if a race were made? ”). She will also give access to special events organized by the sporting brand.

Apple also strengthened the technical specifications of its connected watch. Equipped with the dual processor S2 heart and a graphics processor, this generation would be “twice faster” than the preceding one. The screen, in addition, would be “twice more shining”, which is quite practical for an external use. With this new model, Apple also inaugurates a new operating system, watchOS 3, that the firm had already presented at the time last conference WWDC.

Apple Watch Series 2 will be available out of aluminium starting from 419 euros, including the edition special Nike +. The stainless steel version is available starting from 649 euros. Most fortunate will be able to turn to the new Hermes model, available starting from 1349 euros, or the news Apple Watch Edition out of ceramics, whose price starts with 1449 euros. To note, in addition, that the model precedents Edition do not appear any more in the catalogue. The précommandes will be open on September 9th, the deliveries will start on September 16th.

It should be noted that the first generation is not abandoned for as much. Tariffed with 319 euros, Apple Watch Series 1 will benefit even from the technical improvements of the second generation by integrating the processor double-heart and the graphics processor. On the other hand, it will not have GPS.
